Ministerio Los Alegres de Harlingen is a Non-Profit Christian Music Ministry from South Texas that has spread the word of God for over 40 years. Since 1976. It has dedicated much of it's efforts to travel the United States, Mexico and as far South as the country of Guatemala to spread the Gospel of Jesus Christ. It has played to a small audience of a handful of people to a number of over 30,000 believers hungry to hear the word of God. In a span of over the four decades, the hard work and continuous labor of this band has not been in vain. Many lives have come to learn and accept Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior through a song or a powerful message in a preaching. This music group plays Spanish praise and worship music and preach inspiring sermons to those eager to hear a word from God.
This Ministry began with father and son, Jorge Pesina Sr. and Jorge Pesina Jr. The two started playing in their church with the two most popular instruments in Mexican Culture. The Accordion and the Bajo Sexto (Mexican Twelve String Acoustic guitar). In time, the two would get invited to play at near by houses of worship or to Christian social occasions. They didn't have a name for themselves as a band nor did they have any idea that their joy for playing music would impact so many lives. Over a period of a few years, someone came up to the two and asked if they had a name for their duo or band. The response was a humble "no". The man spontaneously suggested Los Alegres de Harlingen. The loose translation for this name would be The Joyful from Harlingen. Harlingen was the city where they resided at the time. His reason for coming up with this name was because they had something to offer the people that would bring joy in the Lord when they played their music. The father and son two man band respectfully accepted the name.
Los Alegres de Harlingen at the time didn't have any ambition for gaining fame nor financial fortune by playing their music. They simply did it because they loved doing it to please God. This motivation remains the same today. The ministry is now working with its third generation of musicians/ siblings and continues to seek God and bring the knowledge of Christ to the world through their music.
As a petition to its audience, this humble family asks that the family of God keep them in their daily prayers. Ask that the Lord would watch and protect their homes, families and all means used to carry the word.
